Liverpool Will Have To Work Much Harder To Secure Deal For Long Term Target As Juventus Steps In

Liverpool target Mahmoud Dahoud still is a wanted man, not only from the Premier League side but from other clubs across the country. While the German was one of the players Klopp had earmarked to sign in January, Borussia Monchengladbach have repeatedly stated that Dahoud is not for sale.

The 20-year-old’s contract is ending in 18 months and that is why many believe he could be purchased on the cheap in January. Some even claim that a bid of £8m would be enough to see the German play for the Reds.

But Calciomercato believes that Juventus want to sign the German and have already decided to make a concerted effort to get Dahoud into their side. The Serie A giants have one of the smartest transfer strategies where they either sign young players with a lot of potential or only go for free agents.

The Turin-based club brought in Sami Khedira, Andrea Pirlo and Dani Alves, to name just a few, on really cost effective deals and Dahoud could be another player who does join their ranks. The Serie A club have lacked a player such as Paul Pogba, who joined Manchester United in the summer, and Dahoud could give them a bit of bite in midfield.

Klopp has a lot of work to do if he is to sign the German

While the Liverpool manager has used his links to bring in Loris Karius and Joel Matip from the Bundesliga, he will have to work extra hard if Dahoud becomes his next Bundesliga signing.

Monchengladbach, for their part, have repeatedly stated that Dahoud is not for sale, especially after the loss of Granit Xhaka to Arsenal at the start of the season. Max Eberl, their sporting director even said that the club is trying to keep the player on a longer deal.

“If the contract in the summer only has this one year remaining, you must automatically consider what has to be done. But today it’s pure speculation.

“Our desire is to prolong the contract, which is beyond question. So far this has not happened, but we are constantly talking.”

The Reds have been looking for more quality cover in their side and Dahoud could be the perfect midfielder for them. The German does have a great range of passing and can defend well too.

He does seem to be in the perfect mould to play in the Liverpool side, especially the way Jurgen Klopp has drilled the side this season. Hopefully, the Reds can be the team to lure him away from Monchengladbach and not Juventus.
