Liverpool Reject Talks About His Premier League Return, But Not Anfield “For Sure”

Former Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli has hit out at the club once again by stating that he would not like to return to the club in the future. The former AC Milan star had joined the Reds from the Serie A club but performed rather poorly as he only scored four times for the Merseyside club.

Balo was then loaned out to AC Milan and then was sold to Nice at the start of the season where he has found some sort of form. Nice do lead Ligue 1 at the moment and the Italian star striker shared his views on a return to England. Speaking to China’s Xinhua

 news agency, he said:

“[If I go back to England] for sure not Liverpool.

“Because I found myself [performing] very bad in Liverpool. I said the team was good and the fans are amazing, but I would never go back to Liverpool.”

He did have some kind words for his former employers, Manchester City, and also spoke about another club he likes in England.

“The first one I think in England is Manchester City, and the second team I always like is Arsenal. That doesn’t mean I’ll go to play there. I just like them.”

Before joining Liverpool, there were many rumours that the 26-year-old Balotelli would be joining Arsenal. That was partly due to the fact that Balo was a brand ambassador for Puma and Arsenal had just signed a new deal to make Puma their kit manufacturers.

That move did not take place for the Italian and he had a rather poor time at the Reds before he was sold by Jurgen Klopp. The former Manchester City striker did have a pop at both Klopp and the manager who had initially signed him, Brendan Rodgers and stated that signing for Liverpool was the biggest mistake of his career.

Form for Balo at the right club

The 26-year-old striker has scored six goals in six league games for Nice. The side are on top of Ligue 1 as well, ahead of Monaco and PSG and Balo has asked another Liverpool star to join him in France.

Mamadou Sakho certainly has no future at the Reds and Balo had stated that the former PSG defender to join him as Nice looks to win a Ligue 1 title. For Balo, this is a great story as it seems he finally has found a place where he can play and do really well.

Liverpool though needs to have a look at their transfer policy of the past and learn from their mistakes. Klopp does seem to have picked up decent players this season though a few questions still remain on Loris Karius.

Klopp will have a winter window to play into and they will buy more players, as they look to replace Sadio Mane who will go away of African Cup of Nations duty. The Reds need quality as they will have to also get someone for the injured Philippe Coutinho as well.
