Tottenham And Liverpool Looking To Battle It Out For This Bundesliga Hotshot

Former Manchester United striker, Javier Hernandez, is a big transfer target for a couple of Premier League clubs. The Mexican has found his shooting boots at Bayer Leverkusen and the 28-year-old could be playing in the jersey of Liverpool or Tottenham according to the Daily Mirror.

Hernandez has had a new lease of life since moving to the Bundesliga and the former United attacker has scored 33 goals in 60 appearances for the German side since moving in the 2015-16 season. Last term, Hernandez was on fire as he bagged 26 goals from just 40 appearances and that has brought a lot of attention from other clubs than the Premier League pair.

The Daily Mirror also claims that Valencia are willing to put up the £33.5 million; needed to break his contract. Hernandez would certainly help either side as they are looking to bring in a quality striker for the side and have struggled to score goals from their forwards.

Daniel Sturridge and Vincent Janssen are under threat

For Liverpool, Hernandez would provide a different option at the top of the attack. Daniel Sturridge has not been playing as many games as Jurgen Klopp would have wanted. The Englishman has spent a lot of time injured and hasn’t found the back of the in the Premier League this season as well.

Sturridge has been linked with a move away from the club and the signing of Hernandez would certainly ensure that the Englishman leaves. Hernandez knows the English system well with his time at Manchester United and Liverpool would greatly benefit from his ability to find the back of the net on a regular basis.

Tottenham had spent a lot of money in bringing Vincent Janssen to the club from AZ Alkmaar this season but the 22-year-old has found it tough to star for Mauricio Pochettino’s side. The Dutch attacker has played in 11 Premier League games and has only scored once, which was a penalty.

Both sides need to bring in quality as Tottenham cannot keep playing with only Harry Kane, while Liverpool needs a player to lead their attack. Kane has been the best Tottenham striker in a while but even he needs to be rested and Janssen isn’t doing enough at the moment to suggest he has a future at the club.

Sturridge’s injury problems is a headache for Klopp and the quicker they can get someone to help them score more goals, the better it would be. Hernandez certainly knows his way around the Premier League and he still has a few years left in him at the top level.

Paying £33.5 million might be a little too high for someone who is 28-years at the moment but he will be a decent option to have for both sides next season.
