The Franck Kessie to Liverpool rumours have been gaining steam for the past month or so but things are going to take a serious as rumours state that the agent of the player is set to visit Anfield next week, according to the Gazzetta dello Sport (via Metro Sport).

It is believed that the agent will meet with Jurgen Klopp as the German manager wants to sign the 19-year-old Atalanta midfielder. The Reds have been linked with a move for the Ivorian, especially after impressing this season in the Serie A.

Kessie plays in the heart of the park and already has five goals to his name from just 14 league appearances. Playing in the Serie A and scoring goals from midfield isn’t easy but the Ivorian does seem to be getting better with each game.

It is expected that the Merseyside club will have to stump up at least £22.5million to sign the Atalanta star. Kessie also has been a regular for the Ivory Coast national team and has represented the side 10 times.

Liverpool isn’t the only club trying to sign him up, Tottenham and Chelsea were also interested in the 19-year-old but it seems the Reds have stolen a march on their Premier League rivals.

Another talented played in the team for Klopp

The German manager does have a history of providing chances to young players. With the likes of Kevin Stewart and Marko Grujic getting starts in the EFL Cup and impressing, it is no surprise that the 19-year-old is a target for the Reds.

It does seem a little off seeing that Liverpool were linked with a move for Mahmoud Dahoud at one stage of the season. The Borussia Monchengladbach star’s contract issues have been highlighted and Klopp could use his German connections to bring the rising midfielder to Anfield.

Kessie might be a great talent for the future but there isn’t a lot known about him. Granted the Serie A is not an easy league to star in but Dahoud does seem like a safer bet when it comes to joining Klopp and playing for the Reds.

Most of Klopp’s signings have come from the Bundesliga in his relatively short Liverpool career and Kessie does seem to be a bit of a stretch when it comes to a move to Liverpool. This rumour might have been started from his agent as well, just to bring his player to the limelight.

Liverpool already have a lot of talent in midfield and are actually looking to loan out Cameron Brannagan so that the youngster can get some experience. So, bringing in another youngster for the midfield does not really make sense.
