Latest On Liverpool’s Move For £20 Million Rated Swedish Winger

Liverpool could be firing another blank regarding one of their transfer targets for the January window. The Merseyside club have been linked with a move for Emil Forsberg of RB Leipzig and in recent weeks there has been a lot of speculation stating that the Swedish attacker will be on the move soon.

That seems to have gone out of the window as the Sporting Director of RB Leipzig; Ralf Rangnick has categorically stated that the 25-year-old winger will not be moving, at least until the end of the season.

FourFourTwo quoted the German as saying:

“I can promise you that Emil will be here until the end of the season, and hopefully for a long period after that, too.”

The boss of the second placed club in the Bundesliga, Ralph Hasenhuttle also chipped in with his thoughts about no players moving away from the club till the end of the season at least.

“I do not think the player would leave the club at the moment. All who are here at the moment are still here at the end of the season”.

Forsberg has had an amazing season so far for the Bundesliga surprise package and has scored five goals and provided eight assists in the league this season. There were reports claiming that a £20m+ bid would have been enough to land the Swedish star but now it is unlikely that Forsberg will be leaving anytime soon.

A big blow for Liverpool as Forsberg isn’t moving

Liverpool weren’t the only club looking to sign the former Malmo man but it did seem that the Swede was the most likely candidate for a winter transfer to the Reds. The 25-year-old is in the mould of a Sadio Mane, though he does not have the electric pace the Senegal star has.

Mane has left the Liverpool team to play in the African Cup of Nations and with a week to go before the Reds face Manchester United in the league, Liverpool have a lot of work on their hands. Their next task is to play Plymouth in the FA Cup third round and it is expected that many fringe team players will get a chance to prove to Jurgen Klopp that they deserve a chance in the main team.

Liverpool also have to play Southampton in the first leg of the EFL Cup and that won’t be an easy game as well. The Reds are just five points behind Chelsea in the league standings and should they invest well in the winter, the Premier League title could be coming to Anfield.
