Liverpool Keen To Secure Deal For Manchester United Target From Championship

Liverpool’s pursuit of another quality attacker in their team might be going to the youthful end with reports claiming that the club are set to sign Ben Brereton from Nottingham Forest.

The 17-year-old has been on fire for the U23 side of Forest and he has scored 15 goals in just 20 games for the team. It is believed that Jurgen Klopp and his team of coaches have been impressed by the youngster and the German manager even called up Forest to check on the availability of Brereton.

It isn’t just Liverpool who want to sign the rising talent up as the Daily Mail claims Manchester United are also looking to seal the deal for the Forest star.

The other Premier League clubs looking to track the youngster are Chelsea, Tottenham and Manchester City and they did watch him during the FA Cup youth clash against Stoke City on Tuesday.

There was a lot of praise for the youngster after the game against Stoke though and it does seem that he will be on his way to another club to continue his development.

“Ben is tremendous. Look at his performance,” Forest U18s coach Gareth Holmes told the Nottingham Post after their 4-1 defeat.

“He never wavered in his application. He’s ticking a lot of boxes. This defeat will disappoint him, but he’ll play in bigger games than this.

This certainly isn’t the first youngster Liverpool have been linked with as Klopp has given a number of chances for the academy stars. Ben Woodburn is just another example of a young player getting his chance and Brereton would be looking to dream of a similar situation for him.

The Forest striker does have a number of clubs to choose from and will have to be wise in case he wants to continue his development at a club with the best resources. Liverpool are one of the best when it comes to providing chances for their young players to grow and it is no surprise that any top talent coming out from a lower league club is linked with a move to the Reds.

Brereton would be put into the academy setup first and then possibly into the reserve side. His development would certainly play a factor in him making a first team appearance but for now, it does seem likely that he will be the next addition to the Liverpool side.
