Liverpool Transfer News – Good News For The Fans As Klopp Wants To Bring New Players

Liverpool fans were have been questioning the fact as to why the Reds have not signed any players in the January window. The Merseyside club has seen their performances stutter at the start of the year and without quality replacements for Sadio Mane and Philippe Coutinho, they have slipped to 10 points behind Chelsea.

A lot of the brunt has had to be taken by Jurgen Klopp, the Liverpool manager, and even though the Reds have not signed any players, the German did state that the club is trying to sign players but it just isn’t feasible due to certain reasons.

The German was quoted by the Daily Star as saying:

“I understand it is absolutely normal that people ask whether we should have brought players in,” he said.

“The situation is yes, on the one side pretty simple, but on the other hand it is pretty difficult.

“It is not that we don’t want to bring players in. We do. But the thing is, the players we want because we think they help us, the clubs don’t sell.”

While many have doubted the capability of Liverpool spending money in the winter window, Klopp allayed fears of budget issues and instead blamed the circumstances of the window.

“It is not about money in this situation, it is the winter transfer window.”

The former Borussia Dortmund manager also stated that there aren’t many players who could easily slot into his Liverpool side and who would make the team better.

“It is not as if there are 20 players out there who could make this team stronger, who are running around and are available.

“That is the situation. That is why I say we know the situation, we are prepared to move, but for the right player.

“We are not the only side who can decide the outcome of that, though, are we? The selling club makes the decision too.”

Players such as Christian Pulisic, Mahmoud Dahoud and Quincy Promes were linked with a move to Anfield in the winter window but most of the transfers have been blocked by the respective clubs. It could be due to the fact that replacing such players is not easy and the teams would get a better value for the players in the summer when there are more teams putting in bids.

Klopp should be worried about the dip in form for the Reds in 2017 as they have won only one game so far. Their next fixture is against Southampton as they look to turn around a 1-0 deficit in the EFL Cup semi-final second leg and hopefully, the Merseyside club can celebrate another final at Wembley after the game.
