Liverpool seem to be lining up a move for a left-back in the summer and it isn’t a name that many would have heard before. Ryan Sessegnon has enjoyed a fantastic season at Fulham and has attracted the attention of many Premier League clubs, Liverpool included.

The 16-year-old has made 16 appearances for the Craven Cottage side and has also chipped in with four goals, including one in the 4-1 win over Hull City in the FA Cup. The England youth international will turn 17 in May and the likes of Manchester City, Manchester United, Arsenal and Tottenham willing to battle it out for his services.

Squawka claims the Reds are leading the race for the highly rated left-back but there is a problem regarding his transfer fee. Fulham wants around £15 million for the services of Sessegnon and that is a price that Jurgen Klopp would not be willing to pay.

Sessegnon might be talented but that is a lot of money and even though the Reds did enquire about the 16-year-old, the fee will be something to overcome for both sides.

The Cottagers are reportedly willing to let go of their star once he signs a professional contract with the side at the end of the season. They are also expecting a loan deal back to the club with any side that finally does sign the 16-year-old.

Liverpool do need a quality left-back next season and even though James Milner has done a great job in that role, he needs to be played more in midfield. Klopp does not seem to trust Alberto Moreno and the Spaniard could be on his way out of the club in the summer.

Klopp has also provided a number of chances to the young players this season with Trent Alexander-Arnold being another defender who has been given a chance to prove his ability on the biggest stage.

The price tag will be a hurdle to cross for many and Klopp isn’t looking for a young player who needs time on his side as the German needs quality in his defence and has to move decisively in the summer window, something that he failed to do in the winter window.

There already is a lot of pressure mounting on the German manager as he has seen his side slide down the Premier League standings and in their current form a top four finish also looks unlikely.

They need to turn things around and should they somehow make it to the Champions League, a number of other players might want to join the Reds.
