Liverpool Enter A Transfer Tussle With Everton To Land £45 Million Bundesliga Talent

Julian Draxler was one of the players heavily linked with a move away from German football, as he was seen as the most talented player outside of Bayern Munich’s squad. Now with the German having joined Paris St Germain, there have been several rumours about the highest rated talent outside Bayern Munich – Max Meyer.

The 21-year-old has gone from being a player with plenty of potential into a player who can deliver at the top level. This has led to Meyer being valued at around £45 million

However, time is running out for the German club to sell the player since he is out of contract in the summer of 2018. Schalke’s inability to offer regular Champions League football has been a major factor in the youngster not yet signing a new deal. He is also aware of the interest in his services from several clubs across European football. So far, Tottenham have been credited with plenty of interest but it appears that the North London outfit have moved elsewhere after seeing Schalke not drop the transfer demands.

This has left the door open for Liverpool to enter into the race for the player. However, they are not alone and will be joined by Merseyside rivals Everton for the player’s signature. Armed with new investment from Israeli owners, Everton are expected to be in the market for big players. The club recently announced plans to construct a new 60,000 seater stadium, which will compete directly with Liverpool’s expansion of Anfield. The competition now looks to go beyond stadium size, as Max Meyer appears to interest both Liverpool and Everton at the same time.

Schalke have been going through a mediocre season and the club are just about staying in the top half of the Bundesliga table. As they head into a campaign without European football next season, Max Meyer may very well be on his way out. The player has contributed one goal and two assists in 22 league appearances. The numbers, however, don’t reflect on the potential of the player and Liverpool should look to test Schalke’s resolve with a bid.
