Liverpool Scouts Travel To Porto To Watch Two Potential Targets – Defensive Midfielder Included

The Portuguese league has become the hotbed for top young talent from across the world. The likes of Benfica, FC Porto, and Sporting Lisbon possess a lengthy list of highly rated young players. Hence, it is not surprising that scouts from several clubs across Europe were in attendance for the game between Porto and Benfica during the weekend. The game finished as a 1-1 draw with Benfica managing to retain their lead over Porto in the Portuguese league table. However, there was greater emphasis placed on the presence of Liverpool scouts in the game.

It is understood that Porto duo Yacine Brahimi and Danilo Pereira were the subjects of interest from the Reds. Brahimi is a left winger who was a constant menace in the game. Danilo, meanwhile, was protecting the defence along with Andre. Both players had excellent matches, and it is not surprising that they have been linked with a move to Liverpool.

Brahimi is a player capable of adding more quality in the attack for this Liverpool team. The Algerian international is at the peak of his career at 27. He has been at Porto since 2014 after having secured a move from Spanish outfit Granada. He has a contract running out in the summer of 2019.

Jurgen Klopp has been on the lookout for offensive players who could improve the squad if Daniel Sturridge decides to leave the club in the summer. This would weaken Liverpool’s forward line up, which has scored the highest number of goals in the Premier League this season.

On the contrary, Danilo Pereira is likely to be a replacement for Lucas Leiva, who was linked with a move away from Liverpool even last summer. Pereira was seen by the local media as a major factor in Porto’s midfield showing substantial improvement in the second half. Yet, it was not enough for the second-placed club to secure a win.

Liverpool are not the only club after these two players, as scouts from Barcelona, Chelsea, Leicester City, Juventus, Manchester United, Valencia, and Inter Milan were all in attendance.

Danilo Pereira moved to Porto in the summer of 2015 for around £4.5 million from Marítimo. He has featured in 23 league matches scoring three goals and creating one assist. He has a lengthy contract which does not run out until the summer of 2022.
