Liverpool Prepare To Beat Tottenham In The Race To Sign £25m Defensive Midfielder

Liverpool are preparing to face a tough battle against Chelsea and Tottenham as they look to sign Geoffrey Kondogbia from Inter Milan in the summer.

The French midfielder moved to the Serie A club after doing well with Ligue 1 side Monaco but things have not gone all too well for the 24-year-old. He signed for Inter at the start of last season but has not been able to cement a permanent position with the Serie A giants.

Kondogbia was signed for a mammoth fee of £25m; however, his time is coming to an end at the San Siro according to Calciomercato. Kondogbia seems to be a real target for the Merseyside club and they are interested in luring him to the Premier League.

Liverpool have been linked with a move for Kondogbia since the last window and it is no surprise that the club is once again being rumoured to be in the running for his signature.

The Reds don’t have a lot of quality in the heart of the midfield and with Jordan Henderson having an extended time away from the side this season, their frailties have been exposed time and again.

One of their earlier targets in Mahmoud Dahoud also ditched the Reds as he decided to continue his development with Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga and Kondogbia could be a smart signing should Liverpool get him on the cheap. It will be a tough decision for the Frenchman to make since a number of other clubs would be looking to sign him up but the promise of regular football under Klopp could be the deal clincher.

Kondogbia might not be the best option for the Reds next season but if they fail to land all their targets, the 24-year-old would not be a poor option.
