Go For It Klopp – These 2 Defenders Could Solve Liverpool’s Defensive Woes Next Season

Liverpool have had a number of problems this season with their attack and defence but the lack of quality defenders has been a big gripe for a number of years. The Reds have struggled not only to keep clean sheets but have had to shoehorn midfielders into defensive roles throughout the season.

Lucas Leiva and James Milner are known as midfielders but have played games as a centre-back and left-back. With a new season coming soon, the Reds are expected to deal with this problem and have been linked with a number of Bundesliga stars along with Spaniard Theo Hernandez.

Everybody knows about Jonathan Tah, the big and strong centre-back was linked with a move to Anfield last season but no deal was completed. The 21-year-old German is certainly a quality defender and would do well alongside Joel Matip or Dejan Lovren at the heart of the defence.

Liverpool have had problems playing Ragnar Klavan and Lucas Leiva in the defence and while Tah would sort that issue out, the left-back is another concern for the Reds.

Alberto Moreno has not been able to get a look in under Klopp and Milner cannot continue as the first-choice next season, even though he has done an admirable job.

Benjamin Henrichs

The Reds could move for another star in the making in Benjamin Henrichs. The 20-year-old German has broken into the Leverkusen side this season and has played in 25 Bundesliga games in the campaign.

The youngster is known for bombing up and down the flank and could be the answer to Liverpool’s defensive frailties down the left. The pair wouldn’t come on the cheap but Leverkusen haven’t had the best of seasons and could miss out on Champions League football next season.

That is something which would work in the favour of the Reds should they make it to the Champions League next season. The lure of European football might be too much for the pair of Germans to say no to and Liverpool could end up signing a couple of quality players with a bright future.
