Not Sturridge – Liverpool Willing Listen To Offers For £12m Rated Unwanted Star

Liverpool have reportedly received multiple offers for defender Alberto Moreno, who is widely expected to leave the club in the summer (Telegraph). The defender barely featured in the 2016-17 season after making a calamitous performance on the opening day of the campaign against Arsenal. Jurgen Klopp’s faith in the player has decreased to such an extent that the defender was widely used as a substitute for much of the season. Midfielder James Milner was used in his position, as Liverpool did not have too many options.

This could all change in the summer, even though Moreno came up with a brilliant goal in the recent friendly game against Sydney FC. Liverpool are in the Far East in order to play a couple of post-season friendly games. The appearance against Sydney could be Moreno’s last in a Liverpool shirt, as it is understood that the club has received plenty of offers for the defender. A return to Spain seems to be the likely option for the 24-year-old, who came to Liverpool for around £12million (BBC

) from Sevilla back in 2014.

Liverpool feared that they may not be able to get the £12 million back, but most of the offers have been in this range. As a result, Liverpool do not face the prospect of a huge loss on the player.

Any income generated from the sale of the defender might be invested straight back into the squad with Liverpool being linked with a number of players who are capable of becoming the first choice left back at Anfield.

It would be a wise move from Liverpool to cash-in on Moreno when the offers arrive as there is no guarantee that he would turn it around in a Liverpool shirt.

In the 2015-16 season, Moreno made 50 appearances in all competitions. Even though he had his flaws, manager Jurgen Klopp was clearly ready to give him the benefit of the doubt. Now, he has been unable to make any sort of an impression and Moreno ended up making only 13 appearances in all competitions. Most of these appearances were as a substitute. It now looks like Moreno’s time at Liverpool is up.

Do you think Moreno will be a Liverpool player next season?
