Odds On Liverpool Signing £8m-rated Left-Back Cut To 5/2 – May Soon Become Favourites

Liverpool’s odds of signing Hull City defender Andrew Robertson have been cut by Sky Bet.

The 23-year old left-back has been linked (Daily Mirror) with a move to Anfield and now, the odds of Reds signing Robertson fell to 5/2, making us the second favourites for his signature.

Burnley, who were also monitoring Robertson and were behind Liverpool in the odds at a certain point of time, remain the favourites to clinch his transfer at 13/8.

Fellow Premier League outfit Watford FC, who recently entered the race for the signature of the Tigers’ full-back, are third favourites after being placed at 7/2, while newly promoted Newcastle United are at 5/1 and EFL Championship club Derby County are priced at 20/1.

However, we could soon emerge as the favourites to complete the transfer, if Burnley sign Charlie Taylor from Hull’s Yorkshire rivals Leeds United. The Clarets are close to signing the 23-year old left-back with his contract with Leeds set to expire in a few days’ time and if that move goes through, they will drop out of the race for Robertson, leaving us in the pole position to push a move through.

Manager Jurgen Klopp is in the market for a new left-back to challenge veteran James Milner and a lot of names have been linked with a move to Anfield over the past month or so. With Alberto Moreno too set to leave the club, after he was deemed as surplus to requirements, a new left-sided full-back is a top priority.

The Kop Times Verdict

Robertson has been an important member of the Hull side in the past few years and had a fairly decent last season, despite his team going down to the Championship. He made a total of 39 appearances, in which he managed to find the back of the net on one occasion and set up three more goals for his teammates.

With just a year left on his current deal with the Tigers, the club are resigned to losing the Scotland international in the summer and as per Hull Daily Mail

, they are looking for a fee in the range of £8 million. At that price, considering his age and ability, Robertson could turn out to be a shrewd addition for us. But, we will need to fight off interests from a host of Premier League clubs.
