A Host Of Premier League Clubs Join The Race To Sign Liverpool’s Left-back Target

Liverpool’s chances of signing Andrew Robertson from Hull City don’t look all that great as many other Premier League clubs are vying for the signature of the defender. Robertson was part of the Hull side that was relegated at the end of the last season and with Marco Silva, their manager leaving the club, there could be a number of top players leaving the side in the summer.

The Scot has been a target for us during the off-season and while it seems that we are the only team that is keeping a tab on the 23-year-old, the Sunday Express (via the Daily Star), claims that West Ham, Watford, Burnley and Newcastle are all interested in him.

Robertson, to his credit, has not made a lot of noise about moving away after their relegation. The 23-year-old played 33 Premier League games for the Tigers last season and scored a goal with two assists to his name.

The youngster can be played as a left-back or a left-winger but Jurgen Klopp needs to find a quality defender as we are short of left-backs ahead of next season.

Alberto Moreno is surely going to leave in the transfer window while playing James Milner next season as our primary left-back would be suicidal. The former Manchester City man did play very well but having a proper left-back would certainly solve a lot of defensive headaches next season.

The major worry for the fans would be the fact that we don’t seem to be really interested in bringing a quality left-back to the club. Most of the talk has been about bringing in Virgil van Dijk and Naby Keita with no concrete news about moving for a world-class left-back.

Ryan Sessegnon

was another target for us at the start of the summer but even he was not pursued with intent and the Englishman stayed with Fulham after signing a new contract (Telegraph).

Playing European games additionally with our packed English schedule will be tough on the squad and not having cover for the left-back spot will be a huge issue. Hopefully, Klopp does have a plan and he will use his scouting network to get the right man for us.
