Liverpool To Allow Goalkeeper To Complete Switch Amidst Interest From Championship Club

Liverpool goalkeeper Adam Bogdan will be allowed to leave Anfield this summer on loan, in search of first-team football and Championship side Nottingham Forest are believed to be interested as per reports from the Nottingham Post.

According to the report, Forest are willing to sign Bogdan as a replacement for Vladimir Stojkovic, who looks likely to leave the City Ground this summer.

Jurgen Klopp has many goalkeeping options at his disposal. Bogdan is probably the club’s 4th

choice custodian now, after the return of Danny Ward from his loan spell at Huddersfield Town. Simon Mignolet appears to have regained his starting place, following his impressive form in the second half of last season. Loris Karius is also expected to remain at the club, after a difficult first campaign in English football. Liverpool have also been linked with Sevilla keeper Sergio Rico.

Bogdan has only made 6 appearances for the Reds, since joining from Bolton Wanderers. When given those rare opportunities, he didn’t make the most of them. A handful of mistakes when he played, have ensured that he has very much remained a back-up goalkeeper at the club.

He spent last season on loan in the Championship, at Wigan Athletic. The Latics endured a torrid campaign and were relegated on return to the English second-tier. Bogdan’s season was cut short though, by an anterior cruciate ligament injury.

Bogdan would ideally like to find a permanent home, with his chances of game time at Liverpool looking extremely slender. However, a loan move looks likely again.

Nottingham Forest’s sporting director Frank McParland, was the general manager during the Hungarian’s days at Bolton, and is keen to sign Bogdan.

Forest only just managed to avoid relegation from the Championship last season. Their survival was confirmed only on the final day of the campaign. At a club of their size, promotion would always be on the supporters’ minds at the start of a season. Former Brentford and Rangers manager Mark Warburton will be tasked with the job of turning Forest’s fortunes around.

Liverpool’s goalkeeping situation will be fascinating this campaign. If Rico signs, then he would probably become the club’s number one. However, Mignolet will believe he did enough last term to warrant an extended stay between the sticks.
