Klopp Presser: Stressed That Liverpool Will Have A Strong Squad And Is Waiting For The Right Moment

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has said that the club need to be patient in the transfer market in order to bolster their ranks.

Speaking ahead of the pre-season, the German insisted that the Reds are working on strengthening the squad for next season, but are having to exercise patience, in order to get the right players for the right money.

Speaking to the club’s official website at the Melwood training facility, Klopp said (as quoted by Liverpool Echo):

“The transfer market opened a few days ago. It will be a difficult like it always is, maybe it’s getting more and more difficult. We made a lot of good things so far. If you cannot see it so far, you can imagine we’ve done a lot behind the scenes.”

“But sometimes you need to be patient and that’s what we are at the moment, to wait for the right moment and that’s what we are.”

“We will see what happens – but this squad will be stronger this year than it was last year, that’s a real reason for real optimism.”

We have already completed two transfers this summer, having first captured young striker Dominic Solanke for free from Chelsea and then having gone on to smash the club transfer record to sign Mohamed Salah from AS Roma for £36.9 million.

However, there are still plenty of bases that need to be covered if we are to mount a title challenge in the Premier League and perform well in Europe too. But, the fact that Klopp has indicated that the squad will be significantly stronger than last season, does fill the fans with hopes.

The whole Liverpool squad reconvened at the Melwood training facility on Wednesday, as we gear up to kick-off our pre-season campaign, but the boss claimed that all the players were handed fitness regimes that they were asked to follow during the summer.

“We all had a wonderful rest. For all of us, absolutely deserved. I’ve kept in contact with the players. When the training starts again and they have to work on their plan we are always in contact, Klopp claimed.

“They have to send me messages after they do their sessions, with all the players who had international duty it was important.”

Liverpool will kick-off their preparations for next season with a clash against lower league opponents Tranmere Rovers, but the gaffer revealed that he had one eye on the all-important UEFA Champions League qualifier next month. He said (via Liverpool Echo

):

“We all know in a few weeks we have these qualifiers, there will be pressure in the game. Now we have time to prepare for this.”

“We have to use the base we created last year and that wasn’t too bad. It could have been better but it could have been much worse.”

“We are now one of the top four teams in England from last season and we want to keep this situation and work with it.”
