Liverpool Turn Their Attention Towards Highly-rated 24-year Old Attacking Midfielder: 32 Goals/Assists

Liverpool haven’t really tried to sign any attacking midfielders in the summer transfer window this season. Our only target to add to our midfield was Naby Keita and a deal for the Guinea star is highly improbable this time around. We could still do with another attacker that can link up with the forwards well and outlet Les Lions de L’Atlas claims that we are in the market for Ajax star Hakim Ziyech.

The 24-year-old Moroccan joined Ajax at the start of last season from FC Twente and scored 12 goals and 20 assists in 42 games in all competitions for the Dutch outfit. Ziyech has also been capped by the national side and seems to be one of the brightest players in the country.

Ziyech would also be a part of our rising African contingent and would join the likes of Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah. The 24-year-old is versatile enough to play on either wing and as an attacking midfielder, thus making him a great fit for our system which ensures our attackers keep changing positions.

Does The Move Make Sense?

The 24-year-old had one of his most productive seasons last time around with the Dutch giants but the problem is we already have a lot of talent in our midfield and bringing the 24-year-old would only relegate him to the bench.

He is not on the same level as some of the top players across Europe and still needs to sharpen his skills in the final third, though the stats say otherwise. Ziyech himself would not want to play second fiddle and would want to start regularly for whichever side he does play for next season.

What we need are more defensive minded players that can help us keep teams out. Our attack does not need any major reinforcement and Ziyech would not be an upgrade on any of our starters at the moment. There is no doubt that the Moroccan has a bright future ahead of him but him moving to Liverpool looks highly unlikely.
