Liverpool Back In Race To Sign Barcelona Target After Move Collapses – Player Could Be Signed For £36m

Liverpool’s move for Nice midfielder Jean-Michael Seri could be back on according to reports coming from Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo. The Nice midfielder was expected to move to Barcelona but that deal has fallen out and the Ivorian is back on the radar of a couple of Premier League clubs.

The 26-year-old was one of the star performers for the Ligue1 side last season as he notched up 7 goals, despite playing as a defensive midfielder.

His name was linked with a move to Barcelona after their failure to sign Philippe Coutinho but Mundo Deportivo claim that the Catalan side are still willing to try signing the Brazilian and have ditched all attempts to bring the Seri to Camp Nou.

The report also adds that the La Liga side have not given up on another one of their targets, Ousmane Dembele, and are looking to sign him from Borussia Dortmund too.

This means great news not only for us but for Arsenal too as the Gunners have been tracking the 26-year-old for a while now.

His release clause is a paltry £36million, which is not extremely high in this transfer market. However, we could get him for a lot cheaper, given that Nice are not going to be playing in the Champions League after their elimination in the hands of Napoli. The French side could lose a few of their players thanks to their Europa League status now and if we are serious about bringing in any reinforcements for our midfield, we have to act now.

We don’t even have a quality midfielder who can play in a defensive role. Seri might not be the biggest name in the world but he could be the signing that could not only shore up our midfield but also protect the defence from the opposition.

We need a midfield general in the side, something that none of out current crop of players can be, and Klopp should try his best to bring the Ivorian in before other clubs try to sign the player up.
