Sky Sports Confirm Liverpool’s Record Breaking £55m Bid To Sign Top Frenchman

Liverpool could be looking to break their transfer record once again this summer, as reports from France and England suggest that we have bid £55million for Monaco’s rising star, Thomas Lemar.

The Telegraph carries a report suggesting that we had bid for the player earlier in the transfer window and are still interested in signing him.

This was backed up by another tweet from Sky Sports which more than confirms that we do want to bring the French international to Anfield.

Matt Spiro, a journalist from France actually claims that we want to spend €72million (£55m) for the 21-year-old, which would be a massive statement from us.

A Wanted Man For Many Clubs

We aren’t the only club looking to add the midfielder to our ranks as Arsenal were believed to be leading the race at one point of the season. The Monaco star has also been linked with a move to Manchester United.

And the report also claims that the Ligue1 side are not willing to let go of their star as they have already lost Tiemoue Bakayoko, Benjamin Mendy and Bernardo Silva.

Monaco want to sell Lemar next season when they believe they will get a better deal for the 21-year-old. The French midfielder scored 12 goals and 14 assists last season and was one of the star players in the 6-1 win over Marseille during the weekend.

Lemar is a versatile player who can play on either wing and and be the creative outlet in the midfield. He was also a subject of interest from Tottenham and we cannot rule out a major scuffle to sign him over from the Ligue1 side if any club is willing to go higher than the £55million reported by the British press.

This deal isn’t linked with Philippe Coutinho moving away from the side, however, we have a feeling that there is a lot of drama still left before the window closes.

The Arsenal demolition job has put us in great mood over the international break and if Jurgen Klopp and his team can work out a few more deals to strengthen the side, Manchester City and the Premier League in general will be put on notice.
