Liverpool News – Former U23 Staff Returns To The Club To Take Over As Youth Coach

Liverpool will see the return of former U23 coach Michael Beale to the back room staff as he takes up training the young players entering the Kirkby academy.

According to the Liverpool Echo, Beale had left our side as he took on a fresh challenge in Brazil. The former U23 coach was made the assistant manager at Brazilian giants Sao Paulo but things haven’t worked out all that well for Beale and he made it known that he would like a return to the Reds soon.

While speaking to the Echo’s Anfield Extra Podcast, Beale did reveal that he felt like this new role is similar to coming back home.

“18/09/12 was my 1st day at LFC academy. Delighted to confirm that 18/09/17 will be the start of pt2 with this fantastic club.

“The task of head of coaching for the foundation phase is something that has me really excited,” he posted on Instagram.

“Skill development is an area that I am hugely passionate about and working with the youngest players gives you so much joy on a daily basis. The academy is a family and it feels great to be going ‘home’ to work alongside both excellent people and coaches.”

Beale did have some rather great moments in Brazil and elaborated on winning a derby and also the passion the fans had in the South American country. As quoted by Echo, he said:

“It was a unique experience, and it’s brought me on another level. Some of the experiences were huge – playing in front of 52,000, having 15,000 fans waiting for your at the airport, winning the derby against Palmeiras, playing Santos at the stadium Pele played in – and I can learn a lot from them.

“I learned a lot about people, and about myself, and I think in years to come I will look back on it as a really important time. Ideally it would have lasted a little longer of course, but it was never going to be my home. It was always about pushing me on to the next level, and I think it has probably done that.”

The former manager will now work with children in the age group of 6 to 11 and will be a member that many of the back room staff know pretty well.

Creating a solid base for young players to continue their growth as footballers might be the toughest task in the academy but thankfully we have brought back a person that not only knows the club well but also considers it his home.
