“I’m here to defend the colours” – Liverpool’s £150,000-a-week Star Reassures Commitment To The Club

Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho has returned to the side with a bang after two goals in two games. The player almost moved to Barcelona in the off-season but we kept him and slowly reintegrated the 25-year-old into the first team.

There were many who predicted that Coutinho would not be at his best and would not be the same player from last season. But the former Inter Milan player was quoted by the Liverpool Echo after the 1-1 draw against Spartak Moscow and added that he is going to give it his all.

“I’m calm. It’s all passed by. I’m here to defend the colours, to give my maximum.”

This will come as huge relief for Liverpool fans as Coutinho is by far our best player when it comes to creating chances and we will need the £150,000 a week

earner to ensure we keep scoring goals to win games.

Coutinho was one reason why we were leading the Premier League before the start of the New Year last season and if he can just form a connect with our attacking trident of Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah, we might have the best quartet in the Premier League.

The Brazilian has already formed a great link with Mohamed Salah, as evident from the cross that led to the first goal in the win against Leicester and if he keeps on producing such moments of magic, we just might be able to destroy teams, like we did to Arsenal before the international break.

Could The New Faces Coming In See Coutinho Leave?

While Coutinho staying is a huge bonus for us, there are many reports suggesting that he would leave next season as we are bringing in Naby Keita from RB Leipzig. The Guinea midfielder has been in great form for the Bundesliga side and would add a lot of energy and dynamism to our side.

There are also reports, from the Guardian’s Ed Aarons who stated that with Edinson Cavani facing problems at PSG with Neymar, a Coutinho swap could be on the cards next season.

Barca and PSG could end up fighting for the Brazilian and if he does go, we need to be prepared for the departure. This was possibly a reason why he was not sold this summer, as we did not have a quality replacement for him. But it could happen next summer, especially if we don’t win any major honours.
