“Juventus will make no mistake if they sign him” – Former Liverpool Goalkeeper Urges Serie A Champions To Sign Reds Star

Former Liverpool goalkeeper Alex Manninger has urged Juventus to sign Emre Can next summer, when his contract expires, and has further advised the Old Lady that they won’t be “making a mistake” if they decide to lure the German international away from Anfield.

Emre Can, 23, has entered the final year of his contract and even though Liverpool want him to extend his stay, nothing noteworthy has happened so far. This has seen him get linked with a host of European clubs, with Juventus being the front-runners in this speculation.

The Serie A champions were linked with the German throughout the summer. Even their CEO Beppe Marotta confessed that they made an offer in summer, but Liverpool outrightly rejected it.

He revealed,

We made an offer for him in the summer but the Reds didn’t sell him so I don’t think they’ll change their mind in the middle of the season.”

When asked about the same, Can refused

to rule out a potential exit and branded their offer as an ‘honour’.

“It’s always an honour to receive an offer from such a renowned club [Juventus].”

His contract annoyance has not only interested Juventus, but reports have claimed that Manchester United have entered the fray as well. With Micheal Carrick close to hanging up his boots, United boss Jose Mourinho sees the German as a perfect replacement of the 36-year-old.

Can’s exit next summer looks all but certain and adding further fuel to the speculation, former Liverpool goalkeeper Alex Manninger has urged Juventus to make a move for Can next summer.

“He [Can] is young and is a player I’ve always admired,” Manninger told ilbianconero. “He is still young but is already very strong. He plays like a veteran. He knows how to defend and how to score goals.

“Can is a winner and Juventus will make no mistake if they sign him. He has great charisma and never wants to lose. He has Turkish blood but German technique.”

Liverpool next face Manchester United in the Premier League on Saturday (14 September) and with a couple of injury issues already troubling Jurgen Klopp, Can will be expected to step up against an already sore United midfield.
