Liverpool Handed Major Injury Boost As Key Midfielders Return For Southampton Game

Jordan Henderson And Adam Lallana

Liverpool have been handed a major injury boost as they prepare to face Southampton on Saturday. The international break is normally a horrible time for us but this time around, a number of our stars missed out on their international duties and are now ready to take on the Saints.

A report from the Liverpool Echo claims that Jordan Henderson and Adam Lallana are back in action and that they could be in the running to start at Anfield on Saturday.

There is some concern about the fitness of Sadio Mane as the former Saint picked up a niggle while helping Senegal to a 2-0 win. He returned to Anfield to have his injury assessed. However, he too should be ready to face his old side if he passes the late fitness test ahead of the game.

The biggest cheer could be reserved for Adam Lallana who has not played a single minute for us since the start of the season. A thigh injury he picked up during the pre-season tours left him on the rehab list for a while but the 28-year-old did take part in a behind-closed-doors friendly and was “flying”.

Should all our attackers be fit, we could even line up with Lallana pulling the strings, with Coutinho, Mane and Mohamed Salah linking up really well. This is a line-up we have not been able to field this season and this surely should be enough to get the three points against the Saints.

Henderson wasn’t that big a miss in our last game against West Ham as we won 4-1 but with a Champions League clash coming after this game against Southampton, Klopp might have to rotate the team and also keep one eye on facing Sevilla away from home.

Having Mane back to full fitness along with Lallana will be immense as we look to make it to the next round of the Champions League and also claw our way into the top four in the Premier League standings. Now if we can get the defence to keep it tight at the back, we might just end up finishing in the top-4 this season.
