Liverpool Midfielder Has ‘80%’ Chance Of Leaving The Club According To German National Coach

Emre Can’s contract situation seems to be going out of the hands of Liverpool as the German is yet to finalise a new deal. The former Bayer Leverkusen man will be a free agent come the start of next season but he is allowed to negotiate with other clubs in January and Juventus seems his most likely destination.

The German had been linked with a move away from Liverpool since the start of last season and even after putting up a number of contracts for him to sign, he seems destined to play elsewhere next season. Even though nothing has been confirmed, Oliver Bierhoff, a legend in Germany is convinced that Can will be playing his football somewhere else.

The former striker works with Joachim Low in the German national team and was speaking about the futures of two players with contract issues – Emre Can, and Leon Goretzka of Schalke.

Bierhoff was quoted by the Liverpool Echo as saying:

“In this time England is the top spot for those players and after the Premier there is also the Spanish league as an option. For sure both Emre Can and Goretzka could be successful in Serie A.

“However, unless Inter Milan returns to the top of Italy, if one of these players had to choose Italy, he would only do it for Juventus.

“For Goretzka there is not much of a chance, perhaps not even 20%. Emre Can, I think he has a lot more, I would say 60-80%.”

Can leaving us would not be as big a kick in the teeth, as it is not difficult to find a quality replacement for him. It does seem like Goretzka is the man who could do a job at Anfield. The Schalke man would also be available on a free at the end of next season and maybe Klopp can work his magic and sign him up, similar to what he did with Joel Matip a couple of seasons ago.

Juventus and Barcelona have been linked with Goretzka but he would be a great option for us and can fill the hole that Can would leave behind. Can isn’t going to remain at Anfield next season, no matter what comes out from the press and it is only a matter of time before finalises his move away from Liverpool.

We have a month now to find someone who can do a similar job to Can but there is Naby Keita coming in next season, so that would not be the worst swap in the world.

Only time will tell if we would actually miss Emre Can when he leaves but for now, he is still a Liverpool player and if he can help us to some sort of silverware this season, we would not mind him moving away all that much, would we?
