Klopp Raves – ‘A smart signing, really good’ Hails £2.7m Summer Signing By Brighton

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp never misses a chance to pick out a talented player, be it in a Liverpool shirt or from the opponent team playing against us. It is no surprise then that the German tactician has showered praise on Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder, Pascal Gross.

German midfielder Pascal Gross made the move to Brighton in the summer from Bundesliga side Ingolstadt in the summer and at that time itself, it was hailed as a visionary move.

H has the ability to slot in both as a passer and a scorer, and Gross has justified the faith in his abilities. The midfielder has notched up 3 goals and 5 assists already in 15 Premier League appearances, making him one of the standout players of the season.

The £2.7million signing is already being viewed as a bargain signing for the Seagulls who are looking impressive this season. That has the player earn a number of admirers and joining that list is our own Klopp.

The former Borussia Dortmund boss seems to have admired his fellow countryman in the buildup to his side’s 5-1 demolition of Albion on Saturday. While the midfielder has been deployed in deep positions, Klopp spoke very highly about Gross’ abilities.

He was quoted by Brighton and Hove Independent as saying:

“He’s been really good. A smart signing, really good. I have known him since he was a kid, he is a fantastic player that has made another big step physical wise. “He has a nice right foot, is good at set-pieces and a nice shooter. He is a smart player and I like him.”

The 26-year-old’s form may be a surprise for some of the Brighton fans but for Klopp and anyone following the Bundesliga action, it would not be anything new. Despite Ingolstadt’s relegation from the Bundesliga last term, Gross created more chances than any other player in the top flight. That apart, he scored 4 goals, which highlight his potential in that area as well.

One thing he would certainly enjoy is Klopp’s admiration. The German tactician’s eye for talent is well-known and I think this should be taken more seriously than any other. I feel Gross can make the cut at Liverpool, although it is better to see if he finishes the season at Brighton on a high.

If he does, then it won’t be a surprise if Klopp goes with a bid for his services.
