Liverpool Are Keen To Sign Mo Salah’s International Teammate – Egyptian Reports

Liverpool made an excellent addition in the summer, in the form of Mohammed Salah. The Egyptian international has taken to life at Anfield with ease and has scorched the Premier League with his goals, leaving everyone in awe of his skills.

The Reds are leaving no stone unturned to tap into his knowledge reserve and if reports are to be believed, they are looking at signing one of his international teammates.

The player in question is Rami Rabia and it is being reported by a Sports journalist of Al-Mustaqbal newspaper that the Egyptian defender is being scouted by the Anfield side. The 24-year-old plies his trade with Al Alhy in his native, which is the biggest team in Egypt.

Does the club name ring a bell? I will give you a hint; the club has one of its defenders playing on a loan in the English Premier League and has been recently linked with a move to Anfield.

Ahmed Hegazi is the more illustrious or well-known name from Al Alhy and the defender has been in great form for West Brom. It is being reported that Liverpool have checked with Al Alhy on the prospect of signing Hegazi.

Any hope the Reds had about Hegazi were nipped in the bed as it is being reported that West Brom have the first option on the defender. This has prompted the club to take Salah’s opinion on Rabia.

So, how good is this defender? Rabia is already a regular in the Egyptian national team although his ability to shore up a defence in the English Premier League is suspect. The defender did play with Sporting Lisbon, but his stay was short and unsuccessful.

I would personally prefer if the Reds go for Virgil van Dijk or even Hegazi because we need an established name and a solid presence at the back. Hegazi may not be available for a transfer, but does that mean we must go for an untested defender? Although Jurgen Klopp has a great track record of turning unknowns into world-class players at Borussia Dortmund, I don’t think we will sign Rabia.
