Liverpool Have Already Opened Talks To Sign £42m-rated Mexican Star Targeted By Arsenal – Report

Liverpool have opened talks to sign £42million-rated Mexican star Hirving Lozano, according to reports. Lozano, 22, enjoyed three productive years at his first professional club, Pachuca, before continuing to impress at PSV this season.

The PSV forward, who has scored 10 goals in 15 appearances this term, has become a regular for Mexico’s national side, netting 7 times in 24 appearances so far.

Arsene Wenger is said to be a big admirer of Lozano, viewing him as a potential replacement for Alexis Sanchez, who is out of contract next summer. However, Liverpool are now determined to beat their Premier League rivals to his signature.

The Daily Star claim that Jurgen Klopp has expressed interest in securing a deal, which could spark a bidding war for the £42million-rated attacker. PSV landed the player, nicknamed ‘Chucky’, from Mexican side Pachuca in June and tied him to a six-year contract.

The fact that Wenger is so keen on Lozano suggests that the Arsenal manager is preparing for life without another South American, Chile superstar Sanchez. Sanchez is reluctant to extend his stay at the Emirates beyond the summer of 2018 and there is growing concern at the north London club about the lacklustre displays of the 29-year-old in recent games.

However, now Liverpool have made contact regarding a move for Lozano. Klopp is worried that Barcelona will swoop again for Philippe Coutinho, with the Catalans having tried to sign him in the summer.

That comes with Barca’s chief executive Oscar Grau going on record saying the Catalan giants will go back in for the Brazilian playmaker again in the winter window with an improved bid.

With a bid imminent, Klopp has lined up Lozano as a possible replacement but the Reds won’t get the 22-year-old so easily. We have to cough up a lot of money for the player, who was just brought in June by Dutch club PSV on a six-year contract.

The right-footed Lozano has become one of the Americas’ best left-wingers, earning more than 20 caps since making his El Tri debut last year. His speed and skill on the ball are simply mesmerizing to watch and I personally feel Eredivisie is the perfect platform for him to continue his development before making a big move to a regular Champions League club.
