(Images) Liverpool Release Exclusive Pictures Of £75m New Signing Arriving At Melwood

While most other clubs are nervously entering the January transfer window, Liverpool fans have had the good fortune of going in with confidence. After months of painfully watching the defence squander away goals, the signing of Virgil Van Dijk comes as a blessing.

The £75m deal was announced just a day after Christmas and it excited a lot of us since we can now actually count on the central defence to do what their job properly. The prolific central defender was recently spotted in Melwood to finalise his transfer to join Liverpool.

The club released pictures of our record signing arriving at Melwood to complete the formalities. Dressed in a dapper black suit once more, Van Dijk quickly changed into the Liverpool jersey and was all smiles as he signed his contract while the photographers clicked away. He even posed with his t-shirt and then underwent a quick photoshoot. Considering how most of us have waited for this for a long time, this visual is definitely a sight for sore eyes!

Going into the second half of the season, it must be noted that we have stronger chances of securing a higher finish, largely due to Van Dijk’s arrival. Our attack has been top-notch but more often than not, goals scored by the frontmen were wasted by shoddy performances at the back.

That should change with the Dutchman’s presence and the fact that Jurgen Klopp even managed to sign him after so many rumours and controversies, is quite commendable.

There are certain other areas that need strengthening but more than anything else, we needed a centre-back and now we have a player who is widely regarded as one of the best in the Premier League. From here on, we have the necessary players and there can be no excuses.

Challenges will intensify but we have a solid-looking team and that should deliver positive results. A title challenge seems impossible but the fight for the Champions League spots is still open. There is a need to cement ourselves in the top spots and Van Dijk’s presence will undoubtedly play a major role in that.
