Liverpool have already identified £100m attacking target to sign in the summer with Coutinho’s money

Liverpool will sign Christian Pulisic from Borussia Dortmund possibly in the summer, according to several reports. Pulisic, 19, is regarded as one of the best young talents in the continent and the Reds are tipped to sign the Dortmund winger.

Jurgen Klopp played a key role in the youngster’s development, helping him make his Dortmund debut. Following the sale of Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona, the Reds are now having a whopping £142m million to spend on new recruits – either in January or in summer.

suggests a reunion between Pulisic and Klopp is a matter of when, and not if, although any deal is unlikely to take place in the winter transfer window.

Dortmund know that they have one of the most exciting prospects of the game in their ranks, and he will be priced suitably. The report adds that Pulisic could command close to a staggering £100million in the summer if the USA international does eventually decide to move away from Signal Iduna Park.

That would make him the 4th most-expensive player of all time, behind only Neymar, Coutinho and Ousmane Dembele.

Klopp is said to have told members of his coaching team of his desperation to snap Pulisic up. The German manager doesn’t view Pulisic’s signing as a gamble, given that he knows the qualities of the player and has been keeping such a close eye on his progress.

Pulisic’s status as the golden boy of the US national team is said to be a big factor behind Liverpool’s interest, with the young winger viewed as a dream signing in terms of marketing potential. At Anfield, the 19-year-old would be guaranteed of regular game time and would have the best platform to develop himself as a player.

Liverpool have long been linked with a move for USA’s emerging star and it looks more likely that he will end up at Anfield at the end of the current campaign.

At 19, Pulisic would fit Klopp’s playing style. He may not yet play the deeper role that Coutinho was able to master, but the fact that he can feature in a number of attacking-midfield roles makes his signing an enticing prospect. With so much cash now at their disposal, Liverpool have never been better placed to pull off such a big deal.
