[Pictures] Liverpool legends including Gerrard, Alonso and Owen prepare for friendly vs Bayern legends

Liverpool legends will be playing in a prestigious friendly against their Bayern Munich counterparts at Anfield on 24 March 2018 to help the LFC Foundation, the club had confirmed earlier (Liverpool Echo).

The heroes of yesteryear from the Bundesliga and Premier League clubs will kit up again for a fixture between two clubs who have amassed an incredible 45 domestic titles between them. The likes of Steven Gerrard, Robbie Fowler, Dirk Kuyt, Jamie Carragher, Luis Garcia and Xabi Alonso will don the famous red shirt to raise funds for the club’s charity.

Xabi Alonso – who had the privilege to both represent Liverpool and Bayern, will play a half for either of the clubs.

On Tuesday, some of the LFC legends were snapped gearing up for the next month’s charity game against Bayern, with a training session at the Academy.

Liverpool’s all-time leading goal-scorer, Ian Rush was spotted smiling. He will have the big task to manage the LFC legends team and ensure they come out victorious.

Former club skipper Steven Gerrard may have entered into punditry but has still got the magic in his boots. He was spotted attempting something in front of other legends.

Jason McAteer was seen controlling the ball, just like he did in his old days with the Reds and the Republic of Ireland.

Michael Owen, who represented our club from 1996 to 2004, attempted a spectacular volley. We hope he tries something similar against the German club and scores!

While few were busy working their socks off in a bid to beat Bayern and raise funds for the club, Gary McAllister was snapped having a light time with former midfielder Steve McManaman and striker Michael Owen.

Let’s hope the LFC legends emerge victorious against the Bavarians as our heroes have already started their preparations in full swing.
