Liverpool have already guaranteed themselves £50m cash money by progressing to the quarter-finals of the Champions League

Liverpool are ready to receive a hefty chunk of money after progressing to the quarter-final stage of this season’s Champions League, according to Liverpool Echo.

The Merseysiders haven’t made it to this stage of the competition since 2009 but are finally rubbing shoulders with some of Europe’s big boys again.

Klopp has instilled the winning mentality, hunger and the desire in his squad that has tormented some of the best defences this season.

Liverpool Echo reveals that the Reds have already guaranteed themselves a £50million windfall with their progression to the last-8 of the Champions League. The TV rights pool covers £20m, while £18.5m will come in the form of prize money. The rest of the payment is guaranteed for all the clubs qualifying for the group stage.

Liverpool recently announced a 20.5% rise in profits for the year, up to the end of May 2017, which amounts to £39million

out of the total £364million in earnings.

However, that turnover is way behind the likes of Manchester United (£581m), Manchester City (£473m) and Arsenal (£423m). Well, that is partly due to the fact that Liverpool’s 2016/17 season was without European football.

The Liverpool Echo further reports about the data compiled by Swiss Ramble blog. It compares Liverpool’s financial performance to their main Premier League rivals.

For the 2016/17 season, Liverpool made a profit of £39million which was bettered by Leicester City (£92m

), Manchester United (£57m), Arsenal (£45m) and West Ham (£43m).

However, our club’s revenue did rise to £63million but Tottenham (£96m), Manchester City (£82m), Arsenal (£72m) and Manchester United (£66m) all came up with higher figures that year.

In a nutshell, the importance of Liverpool playing in the Champions League just cannot be explained.
