Liverpool set to discuss new deal with Trent Alexander-Arnold at the end of the season

Trent Alexander-Arnold

Trent Alexander-Arnold is set for a bumper new contract at Liverpool, according to The Mirror. The report also claims that the discussion with the English youngster will take place at the end of the season.

Alexander-Arnold was one of the stars for Liverpool in their 3-0 win over Bournemouth. The right-back provided one of the moments of the game when he supplied a cross for Mohamed Salah to score and make it 2-0 to the Reds.

The teenager signed a new deal with us last summer. This season, however, the Englishman has battled hard to replace Nathaniel Clyne, who has only just returned from a long-term injury.

The right-back has made 25 appearances for us in all competitions this season and has been rotated with Joe Gomez, another youngster who is doing well.

Alexander-Arnold has scored twice and has two assists to his name this campaign and certainly, if he keeps playing in the same vein of form, he would be part of the Liverpool side for a number of years to come.

Trent has come a long way since making his first Premier League start against Manchester United last season at Old Trafford, where he did exceptionally well in a 1-1 draw.

It would be great if we can wrap up the deal as soon as possible. With the youngster being a Liverpool player through and through, there should be a lot more to come from him next season too.

More good news on the way for Alexander-Arnold

The report also claims that Gareth Southgate will name the 19-year-old in England’s squad for the World Cup in Russia.

England will be playing Panama and Tunisia in their group but the real test would be against Belgium as they look to make it to the knockout stage after a poor 2014 World Cup.

Alexander-Arnold still has a few games left in the season to make the Liverpool right-back spot his own even after the return of Clyne and hopefully, he will do the same in the England set-up as well.
