Jurgen Klopp provides positive injury update ahead of important West Brom clash

Liverpool face West Bromwich Albion this Saturday at Anfield and going into this game, the Reds should be extremely confident.

The Baggies may have pulled off a shock win against our arch-rivals Manchester United but they are still languishing at the bottom of the table. Also, we come into this match on the back of six consecutive wins and that should be a confidence-booster for our lads.

However, we do have a couple of injury concerns ahead of this fixture. With an upcoming Champions League semi-final against AS Roma, our gaffer will have to be a tad bit careful about team selection at this point. Jurgen Klopp provided us with greater clarity on the subject during his pre-match press conference.

Klopp revealed on Liverpool’s official website that Dejan Lovren and Joe Gomez are in contention for a start this weekend.

Lovren suffered a knock during our recent win against Bournemouth whereas Gomez was suffering from an ankle injury.

Their return will be advantageous for us but Liverpool will have to do without the services of Nathaniel Clyne.

“Clyney struggled a little, he had a little muscle issue – unfortunately after a completely normal session. He is probably not available for tomorrow,” said Klopp.

“All the rest are available. Joe is back in full training, Dejan had only a little bit longer recovery but he trained yesterday as well. Nobody else I think, that’s it.”

Klopp remained coy about long-term absentees Adam Lallana and Emre Can but the German did mention that Joel Matip is out for the rest of the season, meaning we will see him in a Liverpool jersey only during the pre-season.

It will be important for us to notch up yet another win and maintain our unbeaten run ahead of our Champions League challenge. To do that, we will need all hands on the deck and it all starts with a win against West Brom tomorrow.
