As per a report from RMC Sport (h/t Sky Sports), Lyon have agreed to sell Nabil Fekir to Liverpool this summer. The report has also gone on to claim that the estimated cost of the deal could be around €70million with add-ons.
Fekir is essentially an attacking midfielder but he can play in a variety of positions up front. He thrives in the role of a creative playmaker but can also be deployed on the right-wing and in central midfield. He has also played as a centre-forward this season.
He is quite the goalscoring machine as well. Fekir has managed to net 22 goals and provide 8 assists in the ongoing campaign so far.
The 24-year-old is particularly well-known for his sublime finishing skills and he is quite generous when it comes to creating chances. According to Squawka
, Fekir has created 52 chances in 26 Ligue 1 appearances for Lyon this season. The Frenchman certainly seems like a well-rounded player and he could add immense value to Liverpool if he joins us. Although we have set up a date with Real Madrid for the Champions League final, it is important that we make a solid Premier League title challenge next term.
Since Philippe Coutinho’s departure to Barcelona, Liverpool have not let his absence affect the performances but a player like Fekir could go a long way in filling the void left behind by him.
A transfer fee of €70million does seem like a steep amount but to have an outlet like Fekir with the likes of Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane playing up front could open a lot of doors for us next term.
