Ever since Liverpool successfully qualified for the Champions League final against Real Madrid, it is safe to assume that we may have frustrated a few fans of other English clubs.
After all, it has been a good while since a team from the Premier League booked a date in the final and in doing so, it was safe to assume that we may have ruffled a few feathers.
However, it looks like an AS Roma player is still quite unhappy with the fact that we progressed ahead of them. Despite putting up a good fight in the second-leg of the semi-finals, the Italian outfit failed to beat us. To be fair, there were plenty of controversial decisions by the referees in those games as well and Cengiz Under is not amused.
He started off by crediting Liverpool for their brilliant performance in the first-leg but he went on to say that Roma did stage a comeback of sorts towards the end. However, when it came to the second-leg, Under had an entirely different opinion.
Speaking to BeiN Sports (h/t Liverpool Echo), Under said:
“In Rome, there were two penalties which should have been given for us.
“I don’t want to criticise the referee, I’m only 20 years old but that’s the truth. I could have been in Kiev today. They took that away from us. That’s my opinion.”
Under is an immensely talented player and is definitely a promising youngster to keep an eye on. Like he mentioned, he is entitled to his opinion but the fact is that we have played hard to get to the final and nothing can take that away from us – not now, not ever.
