According to a report by Daily Express, it looks like Liverpool have received a major boost in the pursuit of Lyon sensation Nabil Fekir. An attacking midfielder by trade, Fekir is being targetted as a replacement for Philippe Coutinho.
The report claims that Fekir has expressed his desire to join us this summer and that he has spoken to Lyon president, Jean-Michel Aulas, about the same. However, the report further states that Aulas is not too keen on selling him now.
With the World Cup coming up in Russia this month, it goes without saying that Fekir will essay a key role for France. As per the report, Aulas wants to wait until the prestigious event is over because Fekir’s overall cost is expected to increase.
As Lyon finished 3rd in Ligue 1 last term, Fekir was instrumental in a lot of their success and it comes as no surprise that the French outfit are playing hardball.
The prolific midfielder is estimated to cost around £50million right now, which is a steep price. But it looks like Lyon will command a greater fee for his services and they might be able to do so after the World Cup.
Nevertheless, Daily Express has stated that Liverpool are working hard to sign him within the next 10 days. It remains to be seen if we can succeed in doing so but keep your eyes and ears open, Reds.
