Liverpool not close to completing deal for £60million star but remain interested in the player

Nabil Fekir

Nabil Fekir’s move to Liverpool is not close to completion but the Reds are still interested in the French forward and will press ahead to sign the £60million-rated star.

The Liverpool Echo

claims that reports in France suggested that Fekir would be at Anfield today to finalise the negotiations, with hopes that the player would be going through a medical should the talks go well.

However, that seems to be far from the truth and nothing has happened. We did make one surprise signing as Fabinho joined us from Monaco and have been linked with Fekir for quite some time now.

The French forward was an unused substitute in France’s 3-1 win over Italy and will look to make a name for himself in the World Cup.

It isn’t just Liverpool who are interested in the 24-year-old as the report also claims that Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid want the Frenchman.

However, Fekir’s agent Jean-Pierre Bernes has claimed that there has been no contact from the Bundesliga champions and that can be seen as a bit of a boost to the Reds.

Fekir had another outstanding season with Lyon and scored 23 goals while providing 8 assists in 40 games for the Ligue 1 side. The 24-year-old could certainly be a great signing for Liverpool given that we don’t have quality cover for the likes of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino.

Fekir can play in the midfield and also in the attack, hence, Jurgen Klopp would have a number of ways to incorporate him into our playing XI.

The French forward is great with his dribbling, crossing, finishing and is also a threat from set-pieces, something that we could make use of.

While the Reds may want to conclude the deal for Fekir before the World Cup, his price might increase should he have a good tournament and that is something we might not want to deal with.
