Serie A club ready to offer £5m for promising Liverpool midfield ace – report

Liverpool’s Marko Grujic is a wanted man according to the Mirror (h/t The Express). The Serbian might not have played too many games for us last season but he is a target for Serie A side Lazio.

Grujic spent the second half of last season on loan at Cardiff as he helped Neil Warnock’s side reach the Premier League this season. The 22-year-old played 13 games for Warnock’s side last season and even scored a goal in the process.

The report suggests that the Serie A side would be looking to bid £5m

for the 22-year-old, whose chances of playing regular first-team football at Anfield are not high. Liverpool will have the additional services of Fabinho and Naby Keita this season alongside the rest of the midfield stars.

Grujic is also wanted by another side that made it to the Premier League, Fulham, and they are looking to sign the Serbian on a loan deal.

Lazio, for their part, have an ex-Liverpool player in Lucas Leiva and also have Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, as Grujic and Sergej helped Serbia’s U20 side win the World Cup in 2015.

While the Serb will also be looking to impress at the World Cup, it would be a shame if we do sell him at this point of his career. Grujic is growing with more game time under his belt and his performances for Cardiff proved that he can play for the first-team.

If we are to let him go, it should be on a loan deal and so sending him to Fulham makes more sense than selling him on the cheap.
