Liverpool’s pre-season fixtures are out – Reds to face the Manchester clubs in the US

Liverpool’s pre-season fixtures are out and the reds will be facing some tough opposition in Manchester City, Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund in the US.

The Liverpool Echo

reveals that the first set of our pre-season games would be against local opposition and it all kicks off from 7 July, away to Chester.

Just four days later, we would be back in action against Tranmere Rovers before facing Bury at their ground on 14th July.

We round off this leg of our pre-season fixtures with a clash against Blackburn Rovers on 19th July before travelling to the US to meet the three big teams.

Huge crowd expected at North American games

We take on Borussia Dortmund in our first International Champions Cup match at Charlotte, North Carolina on 22nd July, which could feature a crowd of 75,000 as it will be held in the Bank of American Stadium.

Our next game would be against Premier League rivals Manchester City on 25th July at the 82,000 capacity Metlife Stadium in New Jersey and the final game of the American leg would be against arch-rivals Manchester United on 28th July.

This clash would take place at the Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor and then we face Serie A giants Napoli in the Aviva Stadium in Dublin, Ireland.

Our final pre-season game sees us take on Italian side Torino on 7th August at Anfield and then we can start thinking about the new season.

Last time around, we had a great pre-season as we won the Premier League Asia Trophy and only lost the Audi Cup to Atletico Madrid on penalties. A good pre-season is often the catalyst for a decent season but it would be more important to get the players fit and ready for a long and tough campaign.
