The season might have just ended but work does not stop at Liverpool as the club have announced their summer maintenance programme before the start of the 2018/19 campaign.
Most of the work might be done on the pitch as the club confirmed that the new pitch installation from last season will see a ‘clean out’ as all the accumulation of grass and other organic materials will be removed.
Additionally, 120 tonnes of sand will be worked into the pitch so that optimal drainage is ensured. New grass will be prepared for next season.
The club also stated that there would be three new positions for camera personnel in the stadium bowl. This would be located near the middle tier of the Main Stand for broadcasters to shoot the footage.
There is also work being done on internal structures to ensure a smooth passage for heavy-goods vehicles.
The roof of the Kop will also be repainted during the off-season and work on the ‘Anfield Forever’ project will also take place. The Anfield Forever project is a landscaped area that is a part of the walkway of 96 Avenue.
The new Kop fan bar is also being refurbished as the club had stated that the old retail shop would be transformed into a bar. This will feature live music and large screens for 600 fans to enjoy every match day. The work for this new bar should be completed before the start of the season.
Finally, Kenny Dalglish’s knighthood will see the existing signage change to highlight the latest honour bestowed upon one of the legends of the game.
The summer has been a busy one with two players coming in and it seems like a lot of work has to be completed before the new season starts.
