Nabil Fekir

Liverpool are not looking to go after Nabil Fekir after the failed transfer, according to James Pearce of the Liverpool Echo.

Pearce was taking part in a Q&A session and was asked if we are looking for an alternative to the Lyon star or whether we might make a move for him again. However, Pearce stated that it would be a surprise if we went back for him.

“Liverpool insist they have moved on from Fekir but sources close to the player still believe a deal could be revived. His heart was set on Anfield and Lyon are clearly still keen to cash in.

“Having decided that £53million was too big a risk due to concerns over an old knee injury, I’d be surprised if Liverpool went back in for him.”

There was some good news as well. Pearce believes we will be signing a replacement for Philippe Coutinho in the ongoing transfer window.

Nabil Fekir

So far, Jurgen Klopp has had to wait a bit to get the right players in. Deals for Virgil van Dijk and Naby Keita took time to complete, meaning the German might wait even if he does not get the player he wants.

This will come as a bit of a blow to those who were eager to see Fekir in a Liverpool jersey next season. The Lyon star could be an excellent signing for us, given our style of play. But it will be interesting to see who we sign in his place.

Pearce did suggest that we would be looking at a creative player for the squad. That said, we have a lot of time left before the transfer window comes to an end and we could still end up with an amazing player.
