Former Sweden captain Johan Mjallby does not believe Liverpool target Emil Forsberg can cut it with the big boys in the Premier League.
The RB Leipzig man was the match winner for the Swedes in the round of 16 clash against Switzerland in the World Cup
but Mjallby isn’t convinced of the winger’s ability despite him doing well in the Bundesliga. The former captain was speaking to BetStars (h/t Express) and said:
“He’s a very good player, but I’m not sure if he would be able to break into one of the top sides in England.
“He’s done well in Germany, but the top four in England are very good sides.”
Mjallby still added that it would be great for Forsberg to play against quality opposition but starring for a top-four club would be a different story.
“He’s a good player and it will be good for him to be playing against top-class players, but it’s hard to say if he would break into one of the top four sides in England at the moment.”
It does come as a surprise when your own countryman suggests you aren’t ready for the top level and even though Forsberg did not have a great season with Leipzig, making such statements might have a negative effect on the player.

As for Liverpool, we have been linked with many attackers this summer and if Forsberg puts in another match-winning performance, we just might get interested enough to lodge a bid for the Swede.
