Liverpool star doubtful for high voltage World Cup semi-final clash – report

Jordan Henderson could miss England’s biggest game in decades, the World Cup semi-final against Croatia, as he is a doubt for the clash due to an injury.

The Daily Star reports that the Liverpool captain was replaced in the 85th minute against Sweden after complaining of a tight hamstring and Eric Dier is on standby to replace the former Sunderland midfielder.

Henderson was quoted by the Daily Star as being hopeful of being completely fit for the clash against Dejan Lovren‘s Croatia.

“I was just a little bit tight before the game so towards the last 20 minutes I just overstretched and I felt it a little bit.

“But it doesn’t feel too bad so hopefully it’ll be fine.”

Even Gareth Southgate added that the hamstring was the issue why Hendo was taken off during the 2-0 win over Sweden.

“Hendo was feeling tightness in his hamstring, which was why we made the change.”

The England manager added that the players would be assessed and hopefully, Hendo should be just fine to start against Croatia.

Not many would have expected this England side to progress this far in the competition and this semifinal against a quality Croatian side is surely going to be a great clash.

Either way, Liverpool will have at least one player in the World Cup final and if Hendo is fit and plays to his best ability, we might get to see the 1966 champions have a great chance of repeating that glory soon.
