Jurgen Klopp finally finds a replacement for long-term assistant Zeljko Buvac – report

Jurgen Klopp might have replaced Zeljko Buvac after his assistant had walked out of Liverpool prior to the second leg clash against AS Roma in the Champions League semi-final.

The Mirror claims that Pep Ljinders, who rejoined the club after a stint in the Netherlands, is doing a lot more work with the squad in the USA.

The Reds are preparing for the International Champions Cup and Ljinders has been providing a lot of orders to the players and putting them through the paces.

The report also claims that the former NEC Nijmegen coach actually does more work on the pitch with the team than Klopp and even though his position is that of a first-team coach, that might change under the German manager.

Buvac had a long-lasting relationship with Klopp and the pair had worked together for the past 17 years as he was with the German while at Borussia Dortmund and even Mainz.

Klopp does refer to him as the “brain” and losing Buvac would be a bit of a blow. But in Ljinders, we have someone who knows the club well and could really be the missing link in our backroom staff.

The Reds didn’t suffer a lot from Buvac’s departure because we were in the tail end of the season and having plugged this massive hole ahead of the new season, we might be in a much better position than what we were when Buvac was here.
