“Do we play our kids or what?” – Jurgen Klopp responds to Gary Neville’s Champions League comments

Jurgen Klopp has hit out at Gary Neville after the former Manchester United man claimed that Liverpool should forget about the Champions League this season.

Neville wrote for the Times (h/t Daily Mail

) as he believed Liverpool could pick up the Premier League if we weren’t competing in the Champions League.

Klopp was then quoted by the Daily Mail as saying:

“It’s a bit silly sitting in an office talking about football, it’s different to doing the job.

“How would that work? We don’t play Champions League or what?”

“Gary should come over and tell me exactly how that works. How do you prepare for a game when you don’t focus on it? I don’t understand, do we play our kids or what?

“I don’t know what he means with that, to be honest. We have to play football. A lot of people watch our games when we play Champions League and that’s our job that we do the best we can do in all these games.”

Liverpool have a testing schedule after the match against Tottenham. We face Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea, Manchester City and Napoli in the span of 22 days.

However, we did pretty well to reach the Champions League final last season and the team is stronger than last time.

The Premier League will always be our first preference when it comes to winning titles but simply ignoring the Champions League has its own perils too.

The competition provides funds to the club and if we fail to do well in the league, the elite competition could provide us with a chance to win silverware this season.
