Xherdan Shaqiri dazzles at Anfield: Liverpool player ratings from 4-0 win over Red Star Belgrade

Liverpool turned on the style at Anfield as Red Star Belgrade felt the full force of our attack. Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino all got onto the scoresheet as the Reds won 4-0.

The three points moved us to the top of the group as PSG and Napoli played out a 2-2 draw. Liverpool were dominant throughout the game and we could have scored more than the four.

Firmino started the scoring before a brace from Salah put us in a comfortable position. Mane saw a spot-kick saved but he did have a goal to celebrate too.

A number of players were brilliant on a charged up night at Anfield, and here are the player ratings from the tie.

Alisson – 6.5/10

The Brazilian didn’t have much to do as he kept another clean sheet for Liverpool.

Trent Alexander-Arnold – 7/10

Alexander-Arnold was brought back into the starting XI, and the youngster did well by joining the attack numerous times in the second half.

Virgil van Dijk – 7.5/10

The Dutch defender was great in the heart of the defence but wasn’t really troubled much.

Joe Gomez – 7/10

Gomez had another brilliant outing for the Reds as he started as a centre-back against the Serbian side.

Andy Robertson – 7.5/10

Robertson provided the assist for the first goal of the game and was replaced by Alberto Moreno later on.

Georginio Wijnaldum – 7.5/10

This was another typical Wijnaldum performance as the Dutch midfielder kept the Liverpool engine moving along throughout the game.

Fabinho – 8/10

We got to see the best out of the Brazilian as he not only defended well but also joined the attack and made a couple of runs.

Xherdan Shaqiri – 8.5/10

Shaqiri was brilliant in the game as he played a role in two goals of the game. The right-sided midfielder certainly is proving to be a quality signing by Jurgen Klopp.

Mohamed Salah – 8/10

The Egyptian had a few moments where he took his shot a little too early but his two goals will give him a lot of confidence going into the rest of the season.

Roberto Firmino – 7.5/10

Played as a central attacked midfielder, Firmino opened the scoring and set Liverpool up for a huge win.

Sadio Mane – 7/10

Mane played with a cast on his hand but that didn’t bother him as he won us a penalty, missed another penalty and scored in the game.

Substitutes

Adam Lallana – 6.5/10

The Englishman had one good chance to score when he was put through on goal but saw his shot saved.

Daniel Sturridge – 7/10

Sturridge got an assist after coming on and had a couple of chances to score.
