Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is still keen on landing Marco Asensio from Real Madrid despite failing with a summer bid, according to OK Diario (h/t Express).
The Spaniard was one of the most impressive players for Real last season but has struggled for goals since the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus.
The 22-year-old has just one goal to his name for the La Liga giants this season despite starting 12 games in all competitions.
Even with his struggles, the report claims that Klopp still wants him and even saw a £160m bid rejected in the summer for the Spaniard.
The report quoted Spanish journalist Eduardo Inda saying:
“This year, an offer of 180m euros [£160m] came to Liverpool’s Real Madrid for Asensio.
“The club said no because Cristiano left, but Klopp is in love with the player and will go for the player next summer.”
Liverpool’s only attacking signing in the summer was Xherdan Shaqiri and the Swiss has done pretty well since joining the team. The Reds have Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah out wide but having someone like Asensio in the side could take our attack to another level.

The 22-year-old won’t come on the cheap but he could be a great investment given his age and potential. Klopp has spent big on players such as Virgil van Dijk and Alisson during his time at Anfield, and we can’t rule out other big names joining in the coming years.
