“It’s really dangerous” – Former Premier League manager warns Liverpool to avoid doing this as they chase Premier League glory

Liverpool players celebrate against Arsenal

Former Tottenham manager Tim Sherwood has warned Liverpool from making any signings in the winter as it could change the dynamics of the team.

Liverpool are top of the Premier League and opened a nine-point lead over Tottenham after the 5-1 win over Arsenal.

The Reds spent big in the summer signing Alisson, Naby Keita, Fabinho and Xherdan Shaqiri, but Sherwood believes the Reds should not move once the January window opens while speaking on the Debate (h/t Express):

“It’s really dangerous for people to think they need to add extra players.

“You can change the whole dynamic of your dressing room by doing that. They are in this position and I wouldn’t sign another player.”

The Englishman gave the example of Faustino Asprilla, who joined Newcastle under Kevin Keegan. The Magpies were nine points clear at the top of the table but the side missed out on the title.

Sherwood claimed that Asprilla was a good player but he changed the dynamic of the side.

“We know what a good player he was, he almost changed the dynamics of how they played, but it didn’t work out. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

“At the moment, I think the squad is strong enough, if they cope with injuries, to compete until the end.”

The Englishman is right in saying that we should not sign someone who will disrupt a perfectly balanced Liverpool team.

However, if Klopp deems it fit for Liverpool to make a move, he should be backed. Most of his signings have been spot on for the Reds, and it is imperative for us to continue playing our best football for the remainder of the campaign.
