“We don’t talk about things like that” – Jurgen Klopp tight-lipped about contract extension for striker

Daniel Sturridge

Jurgen Klopp has not shut the door on a contract extension for Daniel Sturridge. The Englishman was expected to leave Liverpool in the summer (h/t Express) but performed brilliantly during pre-season.

Those performances played a role in keeping him at Anfield, and the 29-year-old has come up with some crucial goals for the Reds this season.

Sturridge scored a stunner in the 1-1 draw against Chelsea earlier in the season and got a one in our win over Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.

The former Manchester City and Chelsea striker is out of contract at the end of the season, and Klopp remained tight-lipped about the future of the 29-year-old (h/t Express):

“We don’t talk about things like that. Nothing to say. As long as the boys are here then anything is possible.”

The Englishman has done a decent job when called upon this season, and has stayed clear of long-term injuries.

That was his problem when Klopp joined and keeping someone like Sturridge on the bench for some games is not a bad move.

The 29-year-old can’t expect to start many games for us next season as Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah have led the line in this campaign, but his experience is certainly useful for the team.

Klopp is doing the right thing by not talking about contracts regarding the first-team players as we need to concentrate on the Premier League.
